The food tour focuses on exploring Vancouver’s vibrant neighbourhoods to learn about and experience local food, history, and culture along the way with plenty of food sampling!
It starts with a ride through downtown on separated bike lanes, where guests sample food from one of the new and exciting food carts popping up all over the city centre (food stop depends on daily availability).
Next we ride over the historic Burrard Bridge, past the active fishing wharf, and on to Granville Island where we take time to visit vendors at the Public Market, learning about the region’s fresh seafood, bakeries, and produce. On nice days, we take our food samples outside for a picnic and enjoy the street performers.
We leave Granville Island and make our way on to the Seawall, riding down the south side with great views of the glass towers in Yaletown, framed by the North Shore Mountains. We stop and check out a unique urban farm that is supplying local restaurants and providing opportunities in to less advantaged residents in the Downtown Eastside neighbourhood. We discuss how Vancouver is at the leading edge of the local food movement. Finally we’ve made it to Chinatown, where we learn about the city’s cultural roots over a sampling of dim sum and Chinese tea.
There is nothing better than biking and eating our way around the city!
